The 2026 Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association (C5PBA) National Open Championships, held June 2–6 in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador, proved to be a historic event for Northern Ontario. Competing against the top bowlers from across the country, both the Northern Ontario Men's and Women's Teams delivered outstanding performances, capturing National Gold Medals in their respective divisions.

These incredible victories are a testament to the dedication, skill, and countless hours of practice put in by our athletes, coaches, managers, and volunteers throughout the season. Representing Northern Ontario on the national stage is an honour, and bringing home two national team championships is an achievement that will be remembered for years to come.

Men's Team – National Gold Medalists

Coached by Arnie Rollins, our men's team battled through a talented field to claim the national title. Led by arguably the best lead-off bowler in the game, three young guns in the middle of the lineup bowled with heart and determination, while our veteran anchors provided the poise and precision needed to finish the job. It was a complete team effort from start to finish.

Women's Team – National Gold Medalists

Coached by Matt Shonosky, our women's team also rose to the top of the podium with an outstanding tournament performance. Matt kept the group focused and composed under pressure, while the team's powerhouse lead-off set the tone each match. The three rising stars in the middle of the lineup remained steady throughout the week, and the anchor—our "Sitar"—delivered when it mattered most. Champions through and through!
